Democracy is sacrificed By the Tribalism
On the 8th of August 2007, hundreds of Tribal leaders came to Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan for Loya Jirga, a Tribal meeting.
The Jirga, which aims to bring together tribal leaders from the troubled mountain region bordering the two countries Pakistan and Afghanistan that believed to be a haven for Taliban and Al-Qaeda operations, which has been a golden opportunity for them to batter out an anti-terrorism strategy. The tribal leaders have shown in the past that when they are deprived, they create dilemma for both countries until one those countries offer them money then we can sense the peace coming for a short period of time.
In a country, where we have our own Parliament, Parliamentary Affairs and Foreign Ministry, why do we still need to follow the tribalism and create Jirga for them to come and converse? This is a
Contrariety
to the constitution in Afghanistan.
The Tribal Leaders left the Al-Qaeda to watch over their homes in the tribal areas so they could snatch money from the government of Afghanistan. This is critical time; the U.S. with its allies should penetrate into Kabul Inter-Continental Hotel and arrest all the tribal leaders because 92% of them are Taliban. They are not here to bring peace and unity among Afghanistanis in Afghanistan, they are creating more problems between the different ethnic groups and causing disturbance in the government. The tribal mentality will never and ever bring the peace, people can hope but it will never bring equality, peace and unity. Tribal life style consists of fighting, killing and hostility – how will this bring peace and unity in a country that has suffered over 250 plus years, Afghanistan needs educated people to send a message across Afghanistan not Tribal leaders.
The Jirga does not include other ethnic groups from Afghanistan, it only focuses on several tribes from Pakistan, if we are a united and one nation, and why are any different ethnic groups are not allowed in sharing their ideas? These terrorists are killing, raping, beating young and old civilians in Afghanistan but only Pashtun representatives are allowed to seek a solution – it is true yet ridiculous.
We cannot sacrifice our democracy government in a favor of Tribalism. Our World is going forward, we can’t afford to have Afghanistan still in the seventh century. Jirga were usually taken place when people had problems, such as: fighting, animal robbery, marriage disputes and many other problems in their tribal areas in past centuries – they used to come together with their animals in a camping place to talk for solutions.
Jirga can be compared to an expired medicine, which does not have any positive effect but negative.
But in a present World with the modern civic society, why are we still following this non-sense Jirga that was created to solve the disputes over herds of sheep and goats, we are talking about rebuilding a nation and bringing peace.
Afghanistan was known as Khorasan but when the Afghan Empire attacked, the name was changed to Afghanistan and since then people have been witnessing the Tribal Jirgas.
Ever since then, the great nation of Khorasan has lost its languages, culture, and identity. The people are still suffering and facing social, economical, cultural and political problems. After the fall of the Tribalism regime of the Taliban, there were signs of hope, people were feeling more safer and with the new government which promoted and supported democracy system but nobody thought it will be changed back into an ethno fascist regime, which we are witnessing right now.
Tribal Leaders are the one who kept Pashtun society in the barbaric era, they never allowed development; instead they are pushing the whole country with its different ethnicities back into darkness and barbaric era. Pashtuns make up 37% of Afghanistan’s population; they are trying ruthlessly to make the rest of the country to accept their tribalism culture by forcing and terrorizing our richest history.
A girl cannot go to school in those areas but there are many females who are becoming doctors, teachers, politician in Kabul and in many other Northern and Central cities. This is the difference between Afghanistan’s ethnic lives.
